The Town Pump Tavern is right downtown in Black Mountain. The moment you go in, you can tell the bar has that mountain look to it. On select nights, they have live bands that play on their stage. When I went there, as soon as I sat down before ordering a drink, people were saying hello With a smile. The bartender is also a positive person, and not too busy to serve you with a smile as well. I must have met just about everyone in the place before leaving. The atmosphere is very laid back and you don't have to worry about not being yourself. The only small drawback is that they do not have a food menu, although they have a few chips and peanuts to munch on. Before taking on this great atmosphere, it would be good to go get something to eat beforehand, so you don't go hungry while at the bar.
