This little town came as a sweet serendipity to me one afternoon when I was traveling from Jessamine Co. to Bullitt Co. I had seen the signs on the Parkway for Bloomfield, and took my chances to go see some country stores. I love the Primitive look, and I had about two hours to wander. It was so wonderful to see the antiques in the Nettie Jarvis store. The aesthetic of the whole place is so authentic. It is more than one story, and it is worth climbing the stairs to get the feel of the old, classic wood-floors and the interior brick wall, especially as the light filters in from the upper windows. There are several ancient poster-beds, and the real deal of hand-made Windsor back chairs. There are several nice quilts and lots of cupboards. The women who worked there were very welcoming and seem very professional and knowledgeable. This place was definitely worth the short drive off the highway to have a look around. I definitely want to go back with a friend.
