Larry (McGuido) had bought an old 1988 Jeep Wrangler in September of 2009, which was ready for the junkyard. The mechanics where Larry manages a garage in Bloomfield, New Jersey, laughed at him and said that the vehicle would never run or be road worthy again. The frame was rusted and the steering and suspension had broken off the truck. And it would not run either; the fuel tank & oil pan were rusted so bad that they were leaking. It took Larry 3 months of working on it at night after work by himself. He had it ready for plowing snow that winter and since then, the mechanics called Larry - "McGuido", the Italian version of MacGyver. Larry & Kathy have been married for 35 years and have 5 daughters, 4 sons, 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Larry, who was 56, suggested that we start this company to help supplement our incomes and because of not having a retirement fund or future where he worked, that this company would be security for Kathy and the family, if something happened to him. And besides, it was something that Lawrence (his oldest son) helped him with and liked doing, when we lived in Wisconsin, 10 years ago. When we started this company, Larry kept & used the name McGuido. Lawrence asked his Dad why we kept the name McGuido. Larry told him that was easy, your mother is Irish and I am Italian, so that makes all of you "McGuido's"! And, thus, the story and history behind the name "McGuido".
