Bender Lumber is one of southern Indiana's leading providers of building materials. The lumberyard has rental centers and a flooring center. It offers kitchen cabinets with installations and design services. Builders named Harold Wegmiller and Sylvester Davis founded the company in 1931 in Bloomington, Ind. Bender s son and his two brothers purchased the company from Wegmiller. Since the change of ownership in 1963, the lumberyard has expanded and opened branches in Martinsville, Bedford, Paoli and Seymour, Ind. In 2001, Bender Lumber employees became owners of the company through an Employee Stock Option Plan. The company opened new stores in Madison and Linton, Ind. Bender Lumber is ranked nationally in the top 150 companies that sell lumber and building materials.
