If you or a loved one are now having problems seeing and doing the things you have enjoyed, Dr. W. Jarrod Long, OD, FIALVS can help. If you have been told by your eye doctor that a change in your eyeglass prescription will not help you see any better, call Dr. Long who is trained to design special glasses that can make a difference. Dr. Long is using miniaturized binoculars or telescopes to help people who have lost vision from: Macular Degeneration: Wet or Dry Diabetic Retinopathy Retinitis Pigmentosa Stargardt’s Disease Albinism Glaucoma & other vision limiting conditions Dr. Long Offers You: A Complimentary Phone Consultation with Doctor Low Vision Evaluation Specialized Low Vision Eyeglasses Low Vision Nutritional Information Dr. Long became interested in low vision from the time he was in optometry school. “I always liked physics, and especially optics, in school,” says Dr. Long. “So, the advanced optics associated with low vision care really fit with my idea of what optometry really was all about.” It seems that many students and recent graduates in the optometry program find that dealing with the low vision population, often the elderly, can be very frustrating and time consuming. However, Dr. Long explains that he has “always felt very comfortable caring for the elderly and others with low vision.” Dr. Long received his Bachelor’s and Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University and completed residency training in ocular disease at the Hudson Valley Veteran’s Hospital in New York. While in New York, he received comprehensive Low Vision Certification via training at the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Since 1997, Dr. Long and his wife, Angela Long, O.D., have practiced at Long Family Eye Care in Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Long has specialized in low vision since that time and has lectured extensively on low vision topics. He has been on staff at the I.U. School of Optometry and proctored students for general and low vision examinations. Over the past twenty years, Dr. Long has opened the Vision Aid Center inside Long Family Eye Care, he has trained with renowned Low Vision Diplomat, Richard Shuldiner, O.D., F.A.A.O., and he is now recognized as one of a select few Fellows in the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists. In 2006, Dr. Long formed Midwest Low Vision to help reach more patients, who now have several satellite locations throughout Indiana from which to choose.

They are so wonderful here, the doctor even brought his personal screen from home so that my dad could see how it worked and if he liked it.

I feel very comfortable during my office visits. I also feel like they are very reliable as I can count on them to give me consistent results every time I have work done on my teeth.
