Riverway specializes in the transportation of petroleum products on the inland waterways. The company operates nearly 550 covered barges and a fleet of seven line-haul towboats. It handles grain, dry bulk and regulated commodities. Riverway was established in 1937 as the Upper Mississippi Towing Corporation in Minneapolis by Henry and Walter Baskerville. Barge transportation is the most fuel-efficient method of moving raw materials needed by the nation. It has the lowest probability of accident occurrence and is statistically the safest mode of transportation. Riverway is headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn.
