Recently moved to Bloomsburg, PA and selected Dr. Joanna Kraynak-Appel as my PCP. During my visit she ordered Lab work which was great! My office visit was very pleasant. However, I was Misdiagnosed with having Arthritis in my hands and was advised to take Biotin supplements for hair, nail and skin issues. I knew something wasn't right! Therefore, 6 months later I got a second opinion. Covid-19 caused the delay in getting a second opinion. This new more experienced Dr. from Maryland ordered labs as well. During my physical exam and based on my lab results she determined that the pain in my hands was Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from my years of typing. Dr. recommended wearing a wrist brace with splint nightly since the pain only happened after I woke from sleeping. I do not have Arthritis. My new Dr. diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism based on my lab results and symptoms. I started on hormone therapy which is the effective way to treat underactive thyroid not the use of Biotin supplements.

Be careful because you may receive a bill after seeing Dr. Kraynak-Appel. She codes your medical encounter incorrectly causing incorrect coding and billing. Your insurace will deny services that would typically be covered if billed correctly.

Always remember, as a patient your health matters! No one knows your body more than you do. Don't just take the advice and treatment of one Doctor as golden. Seek out a second opinion! Read reviews BUT know that your own personal experience is most important. Remember, your Doctor work for you therefore you should feel comfortable with the service rendered and should see results. After all, we visit the doctor to maintain good health and treat/ manage health conditions. Always use your better judgement and don't settle for less. If needed, find an advocate to help you seek the right doctor to care for you. Get results and feel better Or simply change doctors until you do! Always remember your health is MOST important. Take care and stay safe!

She was acquired as a new patient referral because of an accident that left my father with many broken ribs and LONG trauma stay in the hospital. The patient as a senior citizen had not seen any doctors in over a decade. Dr. Kraynak-Appel treated him like a drug seeker. (I remind you, he had 7 badly broken ribs and a very active senior. ) Stating she will not give any new patient "narcotics" no matter what their condition or proof of injury. She also re diagnosed a neurological condition he has had for over 25 years by poking hard on the effected area and telling him it was just inflammation. She is a new doctor, fresh out of residency, but thinks that specialists that have been practicing for years, are completely ignorant. Her bedside manner is appalling. I do not recommend her to anyone.
