We have been visiting the Equestrian Preserve twice a year for about the last 10 years. We enjoyed riding and camping there. This past weekend has changed my view of that forever. We arrived on Friday and were planning to stay until Wednesday. We had 2 campsites and 4 stalls for our horses, spending a total of $750. On Saturday, my husband was thrown from his horse and injured his knee and shoulder. He was unable to get on the horse and ride back to camp. We had to pick him up in our truck from the manor house to get him back to the campground.

The weather was really bad on Sunday, so instead of trying to go home then, we waited until Monday to leave, which was 2 days early. I was told by Chris that Ladonna, the office manager, would not be back in until Tuesday, so I would have to talk to her about a refund for the 2 nights we did not use.

Well I called Ladonna this morning and was informed by her that they don’t give refunds even though we did not use their services for 2 of the nights we paid for (this is not written anywhere on the paperwork I signed but is apparently posted in the office). She proceeded to tell me that if my husband had died they “might have given me a refund”. I asked to speak to someone above Ladonna and she said she would have to look up phone numbers for the board of directors. I told her I had time to wait but she said it would take her a while and she would call me back later. She then hung up on me.

I am beyond disgusted with the way I was treated. I hope that someone on the board of directors reads this. I have already been in contact with the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce and will continue to fight this until I am refunded the $300 that I am due. I hope this review saves someone from going through the same hassle I’m going through now. I will never donate to this “charity” again.
