Provided by YP.comSmith was the most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with. Contrary to my clear instructions, the pad for a shed was put in the wrong place, in violation of city ordinance, and he tried to blame me for it; his solution was just to push the pad over to the correct location instead of re-pouring it. For an addition, I provided a drawing that clearly stated "drilled-and epoxied anchors to be installed at a later date", meaning they were not to imbed anchors when they poured the concrete, which I also discussed with him in person, but they did it anyway. The drawing also indicated that the floor was to slope towards the doors so water didn't pool against the walls, which was discussed in person, but water pools against the walls. They helped themselves to use my tools & my ladder without asking, and left them outside in the rain & mud overnight. They did extensive damage to the retaining-wall planter adjacent to the driveway, in several locations, with either their skidsteer/excavator, or the concrete spoils, and they left concrete splatter all over my new siding and front door - in several areas over an area 4'Wx6'H - one area that was ruined was by my hose-spigot, nowhere even near where they poured any concrete (the total cost to replace the ruined siding was quoted at over $2k). When confronted about the planter (the first issue I raised), he immediately started yelling at me, called me a "stupid f***", and denied going anywhere near the planter, suggesting that a lawnmower hit it (I mow my own lawn with a push-mower, and that most certainly did not happen). He then threatened to call the Sherriff if I ever called or texted him again. I never called or texted him again, but he nonetheless called my place of employment twice the following day to complain about me to whomever answered the phone and to threaten again. I never even got the opportunity to bring up the siding issue. He quoted the entire job, and after he completed the work he prepared an invoice in person and I paid him in full immediately (while I was writing the check, he asked me for a beer - I obliged him, and as he left, he finished the beer, put the can on the new stoop, smashed it with his foot, and walked away, leaving the can for me to pick up after him). A few days later he sent an additional invoice for a bunch of "extras" which were either part of the original scope, or were things I never asked him to do. One of these 'extras' was tree limb removal, which needed to be done to get the concrete truck positioned - when he told me he had to remove the branches, I asked who was doing it, and he said he would take care of it - I instructed him to keep the cuts close to the trunk and start with an undercut - he did neither, and when both branches fell, it split and tore a large chunk out of both trees' trunks below the branch. A third large branch that wasn't discusses was apparently broken off by the truck. He didn't even have to do anything with the branches but push them aside for me to cut up later, and he tried to charge me $600 for his hack-job at dropping two tree branches. A month later, I get another invoice from the excavation company he hired to do excavation & provide sand/gravel - he never said anything to me about his intent to have them direct-bill me for that portion of the work, so I thought I had paid him for it as part of the scope he quoted.
