Barrier reef does have a great selection..on the negative side they will tell you anything you want to hear so you'll buy a system..although I believe they have some very knowledgeable people on board you must do your own research before you decide to purchase. Know that to do a saltwater tank correctly (without killing everything but the fish) it is a huge investment there is no way around it..otherwise your system will be a failure..the staff will not tell you this



I also find the sales staff very unfriendly..it seems I am a bother to them when I need something..an example i called to get pricing and availablity on Hamilton Metal Halide T5 system..I could tell it was too much a bother to get the info, odd too as the lighting is over $1000.00..I unfortunately will not buy from them again.

The store has a pretty good selection of supplies, tanks, and fish.

Prices are consistant with other stores, but high compared to internet stores.

My biggest complaint is that the livestock at this store is pretty bad. Every fish I bought from this store has died. I thought it was just my tank, but livestock from other stores has lived in my tank for years just fine. I believe that the problem lies in the fast rate of turnover, as well as whichever wholesaler they are purchasing from . They do a lot of volume, so fish don't have much time to recoup before being sold. I will certainly never buy another fish from this store again, which is sad, b/c their selection is pretty good.

HOWEVER, their coral selection and quality is just fine. I've had much success with their coral.



Overall, the staff is pretty friendly.

More than 9 out of 10 times i find what i need here.

They have very good prices on their fish and they

always keep every thing healthy,

i have not found a beter place to buy an aquarium

their prices are definetley worth checking out.

im very happy that i found this store in my area.

if you are a serious hobbyist, or love saltwater tropicals, i know of no better place to bring your business. they have been in business in the same location for the over 25 years ive lived here. never had a problem with sick or diseased specimens, and have always found any supplies ive needed here. one of the biggest live rock inventories ive seen as well.
