Our first visit. Very authentic look and feel, food was very good, drinks were okay (small for the price). I recommend this place for good Mexican food, we’ll go back for sure.

Made from scratch with fresh chili's. Friendly, attentive, customer focused staff. Keep going back.

Great Mexican food, served with enough enthusiasm to make you feel like a long lost friend! My wife and I tried 5 de Mayo right after they opened last year, and have gone back about once a month ever since. The decor, while bright and cheery, is a bit sparse. I've beat my head against the wall, trying to think of the absolute worst thing about this place. And that's the best I could come up with!



The margaritas are pretty good, but it's rare for me to find a disagreeable margarita here in Boise. The cerveza (beer, for the benefit of you civilians!) is ice cold. Don't let the alcohol scare you family types away. This is a good, clean Mexican restaurant. Kind of place where you don't worry about bringing the kids or Grandma along. And you won't blow the budget for the next six months doing it.



The staff at 5 de Mayo, while always fast, friendly and courteous, takes the time to answer any questions without making you feel like it's even a slight incursion on their valuable time. The menu selection is pretty much what you see in any Mexican place in town, but that's where the resemblance ends: The execution is above and beyond what every other restaurant is serving. The food, which has only gotten better on each successive visit, is always served promptly and HOT. Plan on getting a to-go box. The portions are so big, you'll have trouble getting it all down in one sitting. And you won't want to leave a scrap behind!



All this within walking distance of my front door. Ya gotta love it!!!
