Provided by YP.comBest store in town. I've visited 20+ times in the last 2 years and never a bad experience. I've always received excellent service and healthy fish.

Provided by YP.comI love this shop. I am positive they take amazing care of their fish and every fish i have had from them has been extremely healthy and lived a long happy life. Unlike petsmart and petco, their fish are kept in large spacious tanks, just like they should. Their customer service is great, and its a local business. I personally prefer a store that has locally raised fish, AND your supporting idahoans and american jobs. FYI: an overly aggressive fish is not the sellers fault.

Provided by YPmobileThis place is awesome for freshwater fish! Their water is clean and all the fish look healthy. They take good care of their fish. Unlike other places I have seen.

Provided by YP.comI am a regular at many fish stores around Boise and Boise's Freshwater is all-around good quality. The brothers who run the place are hard workers and fair business people. They have always treated me with respect and dealt with me honestly. They aren't just after the dollar. I would recommend this place for sure.

Provided by YP.comIt was way overpriced for what it is, it looked like a big building, and from looking at it, promised much more than it was. The exhibit walk through area is tight and got cluttered a lot. if you walk through slowly, it takes about 15-20 min, but you can hang out a little at the exhibits where you can touch stingrays and small sharks. We tried to feed them as well, and got about 5 krill that the fish didn't want until we dropped them in (I don't blame them... just thought that since we were not going to go back, we might as well let our daughter feed them as she really wanted to).
Another exhibit, touch the clams boat, was also small, and one girl actually fell in because she leaned over too far, hence, there is not enough rules/people that actually take care that the animals are being treated right. Which is a thing I saw at the last "touch" exhibit as well, one boy was aggressively trying to grab the little clown fish, and another was beating the water like there was no tomorrow... I know the parents should have stepped up, but I think that the staff should care more and supervise more. Lastly, the two girls at the register were not very professional, giving poor answers when they were asked about the expensive entrance fee, and we also had a little thing with them, but that is another thing. Over all, the exhibits were cool, but not cool enough for $9/Person, many didn't have animals in them, poor supervision by staff, very tight. We will not be going back there.

Provided by YP.comGirl working at Boise's Freshwater Aquariums does not know fish names or sexes or prices or how to work the cash machine.I would have been upset if she charged me the real prices after that ordeal.Check out that fish store on Fairview its better and cheaper.
We have been very please to have our family work with us. There is a learning curve and I am very proud of my daughter. Come back again and check out her progress.

Provided by YP.comI agree with the below comment go straight to the local Breeders and get your fish for the same price the store pays.Check www.craigslist.org and www,idahoaquariumclub.com for better prices and fish.
We only ask that those who are interested in high quality fish at a very reasonable price come visit our store. It is easy to say things about folks, but with us you can simple come see for yourself.

Provided by YP.comTry the idaho Aquarium Club (dot ) com for better prices straight from the same breeders Boise Freshwater purchases from. Same fish without the middle man.
A good portion of our fish come from quality local breeders and our setup. We are breeding form wild caught fish and have the hifghest quality fish available. The folks selling online are sketchy at best and the Idaho Aquarium Club is fostered by a person who has a personal interest in devalueing any LFS in the valley.

Provided by YP.comI have been keeping fish for more than 35 years, and have been waiting for a quality Fresh water aquarium shop for a very long time in Boise. I was getting my African cichlids in Portland, there is no need any longer. If they don't have it , they can get it, and man do these two brothers know their fish ! If you want the RIGHT information and selection on cichlids, or other fresh water fish you search just ended. This shop has what your looking for great people, great service, wonderful selection. Sorry chain stores, you got nothing on these guys ! Check this shop out !

Provided by YP.comI stumbled into this shop while I was waiting for hubby to finish up some nearby shopping and was VERY impressed with their cichlid selection. They also had lots of other types of fish. I was interested in shellies and he didn't have the ones I was looking for but offered to order them in. I ended up getting a couple of live plants and some free MTS snails from one of their tanks. The owner was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. This is an absolute GEM of a store and I just wish it were closer to Nampa. Perfect for the avid fish hobbyist.
