Provided by YP.comI agree if you are looking for the best value for your money there are other hotels--chain hotels. If you are looking for a great experience and great atmosphere this is the only place to be. I didn't find that anything was lacking though--the room was comfortable, the bathroom was large, the wifi was good, the food was good, and the bar and was an amazing bonus. I felt good coming "home" to this hotel I was actually excited to come "home" to this hotel. It felt personal and welcoming.

My fiance and I recently stayed at The Modern while in town milling over a relocation. AWESOME---location, staff, rooms, drinks, food, scene...this is the place. Do not bring your kids, this place is hip, fun and MODERN. The gentleman who works the early shift @ breakfast had the best sense of humor and I can only hope that if we move to Boise our neighbors are half as cool.

Provided by YP.comWe were charged $180 for the TINIEST US hotel room we've ever seen (supposedly their "King Suite"). There was barely room on the floor by the bed to set our luggage. Their overhaul of the old Travelodge is marginal at best. The outside still looks like a cheap sleaze hotel. The rooms are minimally-decorated (not that there is any room to decorate). The bathroom had no counters, so plan on using the floor for any toiletries. The shower was very large (no bathtub), but the ceiling shower fixture didn't provide much water pressure or volume. They have about a half-dozen parking spots in front, which were always full when we were there. So we had to park in an empty lot adjacent to the hotel, and ended up getting a $25 parking ticket. Here are the positives: The staff was friendly (although they refused to do anything about the parking ticket). The flat-screen TV was very nice (although you could probably buy your own for the price of these rooms). Another plus: they have a great bartender at the hotel bar (plan on premium drink prices, of course). So this whole one-night excursion in a plain (albeit modernized), tiny room cost over $200. For that price, we could have easily gotten a large luxury suite with valet parking in any of several other fine hotels in Boise (we frequent many wonderful higher and lower priced hotels in town). The "modern" decorating at the Modern does not come close to justifying their outrageous prices. These are $60 rooms at best.
