i took my son and husband to this restaurant in Collins Missouri on a recent evening. My son and husband ordered the fried mushroom appetizer, I do recommend them, My son ordered a mushroom swiss burger. He did not complain about that. My husband ordered the taco salad which clearly stated it had "taco meat" in the menu. It came out with chili dumped in a bowl with a few chips some lettuce cheese and tomatoes. I ordered the pecan crusted chicken salad. It was a bowl with greens, a few pecans, and a scoop of chicken salad with some kind of dried fruit pieces. and a strange dressing. I did not eat even half of my salad. When our tea glasses were empty for more than 8 minutes before the waitress stopped talking to the locals in a booth down the way. She offered me a dish to take the remainder home. I told her "I wouldn't even do that to my dogs" She did scratch my salad off the bill and did not charge me for it. When I expressed to the overweight man who settled the bill in the cash register my disappointment with the meal. He was not even cordial. I paid 28.74 for a meal for 3 that was not fit for my dogs to eat. I realize the locals eat there because it is the only place in town. By one local mans own admission "no one cooks in our house, maybe a little microwaving and defrosting but no cooking" My hopes are someone will open a new decent restaurant in the area. My hopes are the vacationers will go to the gas station next door or the Subway down the road. I know my family will. By the way the restaurant in Bolivar was not anything I was too impressed with. But, hey maybe I am just spoiled because I want food I can eat, or at least feed it to my dogs.
