March 22, 2014. My name is Candace Steller, and I'm not a happy camper!! I'm one of the little guys who bank with Wells Fargo-only because Boone, NC, doesn't have a Chase, where I banked before I moved here a year ago. Here's my story:

Last Monday evening I wrote my daughter a $25 check, telling her to not cash it until Wednesday, when my direct deposit hit. She ran it through the bank on Tuesday. At midnight my direct deposit hit, the next day Wells Fargo charged me $35 overdraft. I called the bank and they said to come in. I live 17 miles from the bank and didn't need to run to town until Sat. I called the 800 number, no luck there-is there ever at any bank's 800 numbers?? So, this morning I drove to town and talked to a sniffling, snot nose kid manager named Ben. I told him my situation, that I'm a retiree on a fixed income, that the bank had their money for the check by midnight the same day they allowed my daughter to cash it. Not even 24 hours had passed between when my daughter cashed it (which begs the question of why they even cashed it if the money wasn't in my account?!). I pointed out that I'd been a customer for about a year and had only bounced a check one time, over six months previously! And, if all that wasn't enough, I informed him that I rescue animals, and that I am currently feeding 6 cats and 2 dogs, and that the $35 overdraft was my weekly feed budget. After all of that the kid/manager still wouldn't budge. So I left, informing him that when I moved from this hillbilly state next month I would go back to Chase bank, a people friendly and secure bank where Jeff, from the Wellington,FL, bank forgave overdrafts right and left, with no explanation needed. OVERDRAFTS ARE USERY! ESPECIALLY IN THIS CASE! CLOSE YOUR WELLS FARGO ACCOUNT AND GO TO CHASE, WHERE THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WHERE THERE ARE NO SECURITY BREACHES!
