Operational for more than 55 years, Berklee College of Music is one of the largest independent music colleges in the world. Located in Boston, Berklee College enrolls more than 4,000 students, and employs over 500 faculty members. A nonprofit institution, the college was founded by Lawrence Berk as Schillinger House of Music. Located on more than 100 acres of land, Berklee s facilities include practice and rehearsal buildings, state-of-the-art recording studios, workstations and learning centers, music synthesis laboratories, professional writing units, and a fully equipped performance technology lab. It offers majors in performance, jazz composition, music production and engineering, film scoring, music business and management, music synthesis, contemporary writing and production, education, songwriting, music therapy, and professional music. Additionally, the college provides various summer programs, such as workshops and educational seminars, music production sessions, summer string fling, Boston guitar session and world percussion festival.
