Unfortunate Interaction

I'm a teacher in the Denver/Boulder and cringe whenever I hear that one a student has entered a rental agreement with Woodsongs. To the best of my knowledge they seem decently versed on guitar. But in my opinion you'd be much better off going somewhere else for orchestral instruments.

Spoke with Rick Mattingly. on the phone today seeing if they would be willing to take an instrument they sold on trade in, and was mocked that I didn't understand how retail businesses worked. Almost every other other music store in the nation would at least work with you to find an instrument that would satisfy their customer's needs. Most shops, if you have a receipt will either simply charge a restocking fee, or at least a partial trade in value for the instrument since granted the instrument has been used.

I offered to pay additional money along with the trade in for a higher grade instrument thinking even if they didn't have instruments on hand, they would be able to contact their suppliers for instruments beyond the poor quality student rentals that they had in store. I was met with rudeness, and a patronizing tone.

A short drive from Boulder, and you'll find shops with knowledge and integrity at Mi Vida Stings or Sol Vista Violins who truly know about orchestral instruments. As for Woodsongs, It is my personal opinion that they are rude, and mark up their instruments well above industry standard.
