I needed some locks rekeyed today and got caught in the locksmith scam that is becoming more prevalent. The scam is a call center with bogus addresses. They have multiple names and multiple numbers, but it is all the same call center. Their technician came out and quoted more than double what the call center quoted. When I questioned the difference in price, the technician got mad at me. At this point, I called Mac's Lock and Key. Their rates were much lower. Their quality of work was exceptional and the technician, Dorsey, was very professional and courteous. They are not part of the scam and I would recommend them to any that need a locksmith.

Very poor customer service. Went here to have my some car keys cut and programmed as well as one key fob (keyless remote). They did fine cutting/programming the keys. But then they took an hour trying to program the fob, and failed to do so, eventually throwing in the towel and accusing me of bringing in a faulty fob. So I thought "fine, whatever, thanks for wasting my hour, I'll just go to the dealer." But then they charged me for it anyways! They failed to perform the service, but still charged me for it! A pretty penny too, total came out over $70. If they had informed me up front of such a scenario, maybe that would be ok (although I would've just left to the dealer on the spot, but of course that's probably why they didn't say anything before hand). I objected of course and they whined about some token they had to use and the time they spent. I'm sorry, what about my hour? What about my reasonable assurance that as a place of business you only charge for services rendered, not services failed. As a side note, took the fob to the dealer, they had it working in 30 minutes no problems.

I'm sorry!!! We train all our techs to call before they leave for an appointment, if we do not get an answer they are supposed leave a message. However, it appears that a message was not left. We do this so that if you have become busy and can't make the appointment we do not waste our resources and can continue to provide an inexpensive service call. I did not receive a voice message since we do not have an answering machine or a voicemail service, calls are answered by a tech 24 hours a day. We have 8 phone lines all with different numbers that make and receive calls so that we may serve all our customers in a prompt and courteous manner!!!Once again I apologize!!!!!Also, I would like to thank you and all our customers for 32+ years of successful business!!!Sincerely,Jared & Mac's Lock & Key

We had a Saturday afternoon appointment. They were supposed to call first. They didn't call or come. I waited for 3 hours and called them and left a message. Mikey called Monday morning asking when they could come out. I asked him about Saturday. He said they called. The caller ID on both my phones says they didn't call. When I respectfully asked for an apology. Mikey said "Why?" I called back and talked with manager Jerad, the son-in-law of the owner Sydette McDonald. He insisted they called and left a message. Hmmm, they changed their story. I wouldn't trust these guys to make my keys.
