The Division of Forestry works to manage and protect people and forest resources from wildlife fire. Headquartered in Tallahassee, Fla., the division provides a range of fire management services, including the construction of fire breaks. The Division of Forestry maintains a team of more 1,200 employees. It publishes various online articles on forestry-related issues. The division runs various forestry and wildlife programs to assist landowners in the implementation of forestry and wildlife practices. Its forest stewardship program provides assistance in the management and improvement of soil and water, aesthetics and timber. The Division of Forestry also offers wildlife detection and suppression services and manages a more than 1-million-acre area. The division is a part of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which was established in 1992 and runs animal industry, marketing and development, food safety and other divisions.
