Provided by YP.comReview: June 18 National Repertory Orchestra Opening Concert
The National Repertory Orchestra June 18 opening night "Orchestra Showcase", performed by 89 of the best young upcoming musicians, was near perfection, setting the stage for a series of equally exciting upcoming concerts. The coordination of syncopated rhythms and sounds within each of the sections and the several solo obbligatos were most impressive. The performance of Dvorak's Symphony #9, "From the New World", in particular will long remain in memory for those who attended, with the depth of expression for each of the well known repeating musical motivs reflecting the commitment of each of the players. Maestro Carl Topilow also conducted with precision, enunciating with the baton each of the beats and with a wave of the hand and facial expressions to bring each of the sections and soloists perfectly in the performance of prescribed interludes. The immediate experience of each of these young musicians over the summer concert series will open up doors for opportunities of future individual and orchestral performance. All are invited to experience the thrill of the upcoming concerts.
