On 7/18/2013 I took a crib into Tummies to Tots for consignment. The contract I signed indicated that the asking price would be $300 and I would get a 50/50 split. I went back into the store on 7/20/2013 and saw that the crib had sold. When I inquired about the account, I was told I had $75 in my account as they had accepted a 50% off coupon for the item and sold it for only $150. When I left the crib in their possession, I was told that if was in the store for a long time, they may drop the price. I was never informed of the 50% off coupon. I was told to call back and speak to the owner later. When I called back, the owner was in, but refused to speak with me. Through two of his employees, I was told that they would honor the original amount and give me $150. I also requested a check to be cut at that time and was told it would be ready on 8/15/2013. When I went in on 8/15 to pick up the check, it was not ready and the clerk had no reason, other than "it just wasn't." When I came back the next day, the check that was left for me was for $62.25 and I was told that because I was upset the previous day and "threw a fit" that they were going to go back on the written and verbal agreement and only give me 40% of the sales price. I contacted the owner twice via email and indicated that this was not good business practice and requested a phone call. Again, he refused to speak to me and would only communicate via email. He indicated that "I was lucky to get any money from him and lucky that he didn't just rip the check up in my face." Had I been informed of the 50% off coupon, I would not have left my crib with them for consignment. The retail price of the crib is $600 and it was in fantastic shape. I also included the mattress. Receiving only $62.25 is unfair and goes against the contract that was agreed upon. Their shady dealings and inability to pay consigners in a timely manner is unacceptable.
