Emma Havens Young Elementary School enrolls more than 800 students in grades one through five. It offers support services, including resource and basic school programs. It develops related skills in special areas of art, library, music and physical education. It offers extracurricular activities, such as chorus and art, as well as participation in strings program. It organizes chorus, band and strings concerts twice a year. Its parent-teacher association sponsors educational assemblies and coordinates a reading incentive program. It also sponsors evening and weekend activities designed to provide opportunities for children, parents and staff to spend time with each other outside of the school day.
