Ad from Facebook 6 week “free” challenge. I clicked, my husband and I have been doing great on our “life style” change. Since January husband down 100 lbs! I’m down 41! I thought well let me check this out. I see that there was only 2 appointments left and not at the same time and one was too early to make it from work. I closed the site. The next day a text from Mike! Asking why I checked out their challenge and could I tell him more to see if I’m the right fit for the challenge. I told him about my husband and I and that I was looking for two slots. No response. Next day “Hey don’t mean to bug you...Spots are filling up.,,” I replied “I asked yesterday if you had two appointments together? A few hours later “yes at 7...” We fly out the door and get there on time!
Only to discover this isn’t a private / individual it’s a group sales pitch!
Then mentions the “$500 accountability deposit”.
That’s when I was just SAD!
I understood the premise. So I thought maybe I can looking into a few classes. We don’t have a $1000 laying around. Even for 6weeks!
We respectfully listened. Then came the extra push “who’s ready to make a commitment! “Change isn’t just on the outside..” I felt like crap! Because I don’t have a $1000. I was catfished! I did not complete a registration, I didn’t sign up for a free consultation.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m am not saying that they are not good at what they do.But they were not honest! We have been through a lot. We lost our youngest son a week before Christmas. Deaths and aging parents with cancer. In the midst of things that would destroy a couple we decided that we were going to invest in ourselves and be the best we can be for our other son and made amazing changes. I really thought this was going to be an amazing opportunity.
Sorry for the long rant and the personal story, but I think that it is important to be careful how we treat people! You don’t know what another person has been through and how you can impact them.
