Provided by YP.comI am upset and angry over my elderly relative’s and my treatment by Brewster Ambulance Company today.
The first chair car driver came 40 minutes late, and we were late for doctor’s appointment for her broken arm. She also has impaired mobility and dementia, so her nursing home asked a family member to ride with her.
As instructed, I called for another chair car when we finished at 3:45 and was told it would be 45 minutes. Over the next 2 ¼ hours I called repeatedly, was put on hold, and each time was told 25 more, 15 more. My relative was agitated and uncomfortable in the 2+ hours, and we were both very upset at being stranded.
At 6 pm a driver appeared, as I was getting a call from her nursing home to check on us. He started to reach for her broken arm, and I interrupted the call to stop him. He didn’t seem to know about her conditions. During the drive, my relative managed to unbuckle her seatbelt around her wheelchair in the back. It was a mile or more before he could safely pull over to reattach it.
I did not at all feel she was safer in the chair car than had I taken her in my car. Emotionally and physically, we had an unnecessarily difficult and upsetting day. I would not use this service again.
