Founded in 1972, the Archdiocese of New York Drug Abuse Prevention Program, also known as ADAPP, is a nonprofit organization that serves various schools and parishes. It offers substance abuse prevention services for children in kindergarten through grade 12, as well as parents and school staff. The organization also provides crisis intervention, suicide assessment and bullying prevention services. It receives funding support from private and corporate foundations, charitable companies, and federal, state and local governments. The ADAPP offers educational programs that include research-based curricula and assists in the development of decision-making, problem-solving, socialization and resistance skills. It provides individual and group counseling services. It works in alliance with Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership, which is a group of public, private and religious organizations. Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership is a member of the Silver Beach Association, 45th Precinct Community Council and Schuyler Hill Funeral Home.
