History Of New Testament Temple The achievement of the New Testament Temple congregation is extremely significant as it highlights the fact that various immigrants have established solid roots in the New York area and are becoming a vibrant force for community stabilization and enhancement. This is a testament to the fact that although immigrants often face an uphill climb when coming to this country, yet with hard work and determination, it's possible to succeed. Our church was founded by immigrants of Jamaica, WI. these mambers of New Testament Church of God upon ariving in New York, started fellowshipping in the East Flatbush Church of God in Brooklyn. Noticing that there were no Church of God in the Bronx, Pastor Albert Edwards began a meeting in his own house. They later moved to 188th street and then to a store front on Fenton Ave. The church outgrew those locations and set its sights on a building around the corner on Seymour Ave. After much prayer and faith, the church acquired and relocated to 3356 Seymour Ave. A time of trouble came to the church and as a result about five groups left and started other churches. In time a new pastor came to Seymour Ave New Testament Church of God. A new era began. Restoration, growth, revival stirred in the Bronx until we out grew the facilities. Fortunately, right next door was a synagoge property that had become empty. The edifice of the New Testament Temple was acquired ten years ago from an organization known as the Jewish Center of Violet Park. The building was originally a Synagogue for the Jewish congregation that once lived in the surrounding area. It is immediately evident to everyone that sees the Temple that its architecture reflects its Jewish heritage. Since the time of the acquisition of the Synagogue, the pastor and members of the New Testament Temple have labored tirelessly to improve the structure. In the past years we have managed to repair and paint all interior walls and floors. We have upgraded the heating and boiler system. We give thanks to God, commend those who made it possible and encourage everyone to keep up the good work. New Testament Temple Belief The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.
