Stuart Greenstein, MD, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brooklyn College of CUNY, and earned a medical degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his internship year in General Surgery at NYU Medical Center followed by a residency in General Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He went on to complete a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a second fellowship in Transplant Surgery at the State University of New York- Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Greenstein is board certified by the American Board of General Surgery, and is a UNOS certified transplant surgeon who has been a dedicated senior member of the Montefiore Medical Center Kidney Transplant Program for more than 20 years. Prior to joining Montefiore, Dr. Greenstein served as the Acting Director of the Kidney Transplant Program at Hahnemann University. Dr. Greenstein is a member of more than twenty medical societies, has served on the American Society of Transplant Surgery Ethics Committee and Standards on Organ Procurement Committee, and the NKF Medical Advisory Board. He chaired the Organ Availability Committee of the United Network for Organ Sharing as well as co-chaired the ad hoc Committee on Public Solicitation. He has been an active member of the Kidney Pancreas Transplant Committee of UNOS. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Transplantation. Dr. Greenstein has been the principle investigator in more than twenty trials and has written numerous articles on kidney transplantation.
