Upon my return visit to the Dentist at Brookfield Smiles to have my permanent crown placed, I was treated in a manner I wish no one else to experience. The Dentist placed the permanent crown to check for my bite before cementing it in place. She was unable to remove it after placing it over my tooth She had her assistant try (not a dentist) who was unable to remove it. The dentist told me there was no need to worry because it was seated well and sealed. I spoke with her twice over the phone after the visit expressing my concerns about the crown not being cemented in place such as breakage of the crown, leakage of bacteria, infection and loss of tooth. She still was unconcerned and recommended no long term treatment other than watching and checking the tooth but with no timeline. I told her I felt I needed to seek out a second opinion. She said that was unnecessary. She was only talking to me to alleviate my concerns and I had no need to worry. I did seek out a second opinion. The dentist I sought out the second opinion from told me that the crown margins were not sealed and the dentin was exposed. The dentist also was unable to remove the crown. She recommended that the crown be removed and that she would need to use a crown removal kit. I figure it best to have it replaced now. If I wait on it I could be even more sorry than I am now. The tooth I had crowned did have an older large filling in it and I felt it needed to be crowned. I went to Brookfields Smiles based on a flyer I received in the mail. I had my teeth cleaned and thought the assistant and Dentist did a nice job. The office was clean, roomy and bright and the staff appeared polite and the dentist appeared professional and a good listener. This is why I consented to have the tooth crowned by them. But, I don't feel I could possibly trust the Dentist at Brookfield Smiles assessment of the tooth or work that was done based on the dentists responses and actions. Nor would I ever recommend them. I also had to pay in full for the work done. So I will be out the cost of the crown. The new dentist I am seeing says I should demand a refund for the crown but at the moment I'm not ready for that fight. So I've taken to writing reviews about my experience with Brookfield Smiles. Perhaps someone else will be spared the experience I endured by reading this review. That would make me feel better. That's where my heads at currently.
