Provided by YP.comWhatever you do, do not get your auto loan through Brookline Bank. I have had my auto loan through Brookline Bank for about four years now. I have always paid on time and more often then not paid more then was required. Like most people today I am going through a tough time with the economy. I was laid off from work and had to take a job paying less then half of what I was making before. As of today my car loan would be paid off about a year and a half before it is due it is due to be paid. I fell short on making my June car payment of $540, I sent $200 and recently sent another $200. I told the gentlemen from Brookline Bank on the phone that I was going to be about $100 dollars short for June and I would send about $100 or so a week every week until I can find a better job. To make a long story short I was told if the June payment was not paid in full in the next ten days my car could be repossessed. I said to him that I understood if you took the car if I paid nothing for the month, but before you decide do you take in to consideration that I am scheduled to pay off this loan a year and half before it's due and I am making payments just short of the full amount? I told him that I did not expect him to tell me whether they would take the car, just if they would consider those factors before deciding. After about 40 minutes of what sounded like him reading from a script, he finally said if it was up to him, because I have a bankruptcy, he would repossess my car in a heartbeat, even though I said I could pay about 90% of the payment due and I am a year and 6 months ahead of when the car is due to be paid off. This is just another company that does not care about the loyalty of their customers.
