Provided by YP.comI recently stopped at this particular 7-Eleven on my way home from work to buy some ice cream, but really just wanted to break a large bill. I often like to take my time before making a purchase, and the ice cream was located all the way in the back of the store, to the left. Now I guess I was back there too long or something, because the manager or whoever he was came to check and basically make sure that I wasn't stealing anything, but disguised it as him putting something in the storage room, located conveniently near the ice cream section. REALLY?!! I understand that he could've legitimately been putting something in the storage facility, however, my intuitive feeling told me otherwise, and being a person of color, I knew/know better. I don't typically feel strongly or compelled enough about things to write reviews ever, but in all my life, I've had very few instances where I was followed, tracked, checked on, singled out, or otherwise racially profiled while just innocently going about my business. It pisses me off beyond words that I and we live in a world with so many small-minded and ignorant morons who automatically assume the worst about someone's character simply based on the color of their skin, erroneous representations of their ethnic or cultural background on TV/in the media, or the fact that perhaps they just look "suspicious" whatever the hell that means. I have an income. Never been in trouble with The Law as we say, or really any kind of trouble for that matter. Therefore, why oh why would I risk utter embarrassment and humiliation over some freaking $4 ice cream !!! In closing, if you are a man or woman of color, beware of the racist practices of this particular establishment -- which are frankly identical to the practices of just about every other establishment whose employees see a Black or Afro-Latino person and think they're either in there to steal or hold the place up -- because you just might find yourself having to take your business (and money) elsewhere. Thanks for reading this to the end if you actually did.
