Groundswell Community Mural Project is a NYC-based, 501 ( 3 ) founded in 1996 1996 to bring together youth, professional artists, and communities in partnership. We use art as a tool for social change by creating high quality works of public art in under-represented neighborhoods. Since our founding, Groundswell has given underserved youth in New York City unique opportunities to create public art throughout the five boroughs. Collaborating with established artists and community organizations, youth in our programs have transformed over 125 public spaces with dynamic murals, mosaics, and sculptures that enhance the quality of life for thousands of New Yorkers everyday.
