The worst company ever!!!!



The companies they are affiliated with, New Start Development LLC and Knox Homes LP are in the same mold.



They do not provide the services legally required of them under the Rent Stabilization Law and Code, as well as other NYC rent laws. Their employees are, for the most part, awful! They are rude, unknowledgeable, and unhelpful, and they never return phone calls from tenants. Certain employees at 469 Bedford Ave are known to scream at tenants and hang up on them regularly. And yes, as other reviewers comments, watch out for the famous Juanita!!! Not to mention to "paralegal" who signs the notices wrongfully received by tenants .... I forget her name.



This company has not given proper Rent Stabilized Renewal leases, improperly raised rent, and regularly send bills for incorrect and higher monthly rent amounts. The company has also failed to cash rent checks on time or has cashed checks but claimed not to have received them and then charged tenants a late fee.



They do not respond to service requests in a timely manner and, if they do respond, they pick and choose which repairs they will actually do. It goes without saying that the repairs that ARE made are inadequate and subpar.



When you call managment, financing, the main office at 50 Greene Ave, or any other number of these 3 affiliated companies and, as usual, recveive no help, please note that they will REFUSE to provide you with the information for their legal counsel. They will tell you that board members such as Mr Thompson are "in a meeting" or they are "gone for the day". You will never get through to anyone with any authority to make a change.



When I first moved in years ago the situation was better but I am led to believe that the horrible management of this company has led all the good staff, superintendents and other employees to flee!!!



For months tenants would receive letters from ConEd stating that the company did not pay the building-wide electrical and heat bills, and they may have to shut off electricity to the main parts of the building as well as all heat.



Needless to say, I have a slew of additional complaints and issues with this company and its affiliates, but it is pointless to go on. But beware and heed all the reviews posted here!
