THIS IS THE WORST MOVING COMPANY THEY DID NOT SEND ME ANYTHING ABOUT THE MOVE AND FRED THERE WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING MY QUOTE WAS 950 WELL 3223 LATER AND ALL THE HIDDEN COSTS THEY DONT TELL YOU AND THE TIP FOR 20 PERCENT YOU BETTER THINK BEFORE YOU HIRE THIS COMPANY BUT BETTER YET I WAS WATCHING ALEX THE MOVER PICK UP A LITTLE DRESSER THAT WAS IN THE LIVING ROOM AND THE DRAWER FELL OUT WHEN HE PICKED IT UP AND YOU COULD HEAR IT BREAK. ALEX PUT THE BROKE DRAWER BACK IN IT AND ACTED AS NOTHING HAPPENED I TOLD ALEX YOU KNOW THAT IS BROKE RIGHT. THIS COMPANY WONT EVEN PROVIDE YOU THERE INSURANCE COMPANY NAME SO YOU CAN FILE ANYTHING

Avoid Xpress. The telephone salesman was at multiple points either deliberately omitting certain costs, and at one point just plain lied. The loaders were friendly enough, but one of their acts was so unprofessional to be worth mentioning. I will also explain a problem with their general policy.



The net result of a combination of deception, misunderstanding, and a terrible policy is that the price they quoted me ($790) on the phone ballooned to $1307 on the actual day of the move. And they didn't even move all the stuff that was promised.



Problems with the telephone salesman (Josh):



He quoted me a price for my move from Princeton to New Haven, based on a "travelling-time estimate" of 3 hours. An important point he failed to mention is that this "travelling-time estimate" was for a one-way trip, and you had to pay more ($115 per hour) for both legs of the journey. In the end, I was billed for 5.5 hours of travelling.



After giving me an initial quote of $690, in his words, "the only other cost that hasn't been included" is the price of road and bridge tolls, which he claimed was "about $100". The actual toll price turned out to be $207.



Other costs not mentioned on the phone, but you will have to deal with:



1) They make you sign a document stating that you will pay for any parking tickets they incur.



2) Tip for the movers, generally expected to be 15-20%.





There was a misunderstanding where the salesman thought he conveyed that the movers would arrive at 9am, but I thought he meant that they would start driving off their base at 9am , and would arrive at my place at 10am plus. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, this could have been an honest misunderstanding, since I do not recall the exact words that were exchanged. However, the moving company had a zero tolerance for misunderstandings, and were completely unsympathetic. At one point, the salesman was shouting into the phone "are you saying it's my fault?" They offered an ultimatum: either we take your deposit and cancel the move, or we'll charge you $115 per hour till you finish packing.



Problem with the loaders:



These were friendly loaders (led by foreman Alex), however one of their acts was so unprofessional that it soured my impression of them. They agreed to move two of my lamps, and indeed they carried them into the truck. What they failed to tell me is that they unscrewed three of my lamp bulbs and tossed them into my car, without my permission. I only found out about the bulbs after the move.





Problem with general policy:



They have a policy to charge $250 if you make an "additional stop". I was particularly incredulous because I had stuff to unload from both home and office, which were separated by 5 minutes of driving. Such details were irrelevant to the moving company, and it was a painful policy to learn on the actual day of the move.

I highly recommend NOT going with this company. Read up on moving scams before using any mover. We chose them to move from Brooklyn to Atlanta because they had the lowest estimate. It turned out that they had the lowest estimate because they weren't going to honor it - and charged us double. The worst part was how nerve racking they made the experience. They promised delivery in about a week, verbally. When it didn't show up in a week, I called, and they said it would be another day or two. Every time I call they give me the run around and then eventually say it will be a day or two. Repeat this process for another two weeks, not knowing where all of my belongings were or whether I would see them again. When everything arrived, it was in fairly good condition. My golf clubs were missing and some small parts of a bookshelf which made the shelf useless. At that point, I was just glad to have most of my stuff.

We moved from NY to NH with these guys, and were very happy. We got a good quote, we had a lot of things, large flat screens, a dirt bike, all sorts of odds and ends, and we were a little worried they would be mishandled, we were wrong. They work fast, and with care, they didn't play any games with the prices, and no shady requests. In any case, if you need a mover, xpress moving van lines should be the first choice.

A very difficult move was made so much easier by xpress moving van lines. The staff both in the office and the crew for moving was so courteous and helpful. Their quote wasn't the cheapest but nor was it the most expensive but we chose to use them as they had the most professional and clear approach. On the day of the move the team arrived early. The team leader was a gentleman and he ran the move for us. I was amazed at how polite and helpful the team was. They packed every single item even the cups, mugs and glasses in paper, which was amazing! Overall the experience was really good. I have to say I was doubtful when I first started looking for a moving company. I got quotes from 3 companies and xpress moving van lines came up with a great quote to move us from my 3 bedroom flat to a new 4 bed flat at my new place in Alexandria, VA. The moving was including packaging. They turned up early for the packaging and the team of 3 men that came packed everything within few hours, with everything protected and well wrapped. Next day they came on time, loaded everything cautiously. All the furniture that needed dismantling got dismantled and put back together at the new place. Altogether a smooth move and I wish to extend my gratefulness to the guys involved in my move; they were fast, careful and lovely.

When I called the company, I talked to Fred, their salesman at the office, who was really helpful and friendly and he showed me clearly that my interest and my questions were his highest priority. He explained me the entire moving process and went over all the information with me and half an hour after our talk, he sent me an email confirming everything we spoke about. So, I booked the time frame. On the moving day, the moving team showed up on time and behaved in a very professional way. Not only were they professional team of workers, but they were also very nice, courteous and friendly. They showed up with a smile and all the requests I had were fulfilled by these people with no problem. Should I mention that they were super careful with my stuff and that nothing got damaged! On the moving day, the foreman and two workers came to my apartment on time and wrapped all my things, and I can say that the crews were very professional and enthusiastic about the job and treated me in a very nice way. Their customer service was on a high level. They are very hardworking and very friendly crew. My kitchen equipment was wrapped very carefully, especially my new microwave which was shrink-wrapped. They taped up, covered and wrapped everything. It only took 6 hours to pack everything in my large 4 bedroom apt. I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently they emptied a 4 bedroom house, and how helpful they were in getting everything set up at the new place. I've moved a lot and these guys were the best movers I've ever dealt with.

I am glad to inform that xpress moving van lines did a great job while moving us across the country. Their 4 men crew did really well to pack and load my stuff and move them to Salt Lake City, UT.
