Nice & affordable

I lived in the area through transition with children for 6 months. I worked out at this gym. I went in the mornings between 6-Noon. The guy that works then is very nice. The girl in child care is also & great with kids!!!! This is a perfect gym for the money. If you want a bigger gym with a better locker room, go pay more. Complaining about a gym rate inflation by one or two bucks a month is childish. This was a very accommodative gum for the price, I have paid a lot more & seen worse! ALL the equipment works & is maintained too. You can't even find that in the big expensive gym with the fancy locker rooms.

Ditto to THAT! I fell victum to the SAME PROMISE...what a CROCK! It was MIKE AGEMY who spewed the same line at the Brownstown gym, I fell for it!!...CONTRACTS MEAN NOTHING IN THIS BUSINESS ...dont believe it, whatever they tell you especially MIKE AGEMY and company!!! total bs

Also beware, of the FILTH.....not only the gym, but the mouths of the male patrons, they sure dont uphold their "rules of the gym" either.

Beware!

Powerhouse Gym in Brownstown is a good gym, average amount of equipment, well managed. It is quite crowded, so members can't dawdle over a machine, and the locker room sucks. You usually have to wait a bit for cardio machines. It is one of 3 gyms owned by Al Ferris. But upwards to 1000 of his members are frustrated and angry after they were told in 2008 if they plunked down $108 and paid $9 dollars a month, that price would never go up. A year later it went up to $12 a month. Turns out we all signed a contract that said, despite the sales pitch, that the owner could raise fees any time he wants. Do not trust Al Ferris. Do not buy lifetime or extended contracts.

Shady and Underhanded Business Practices

I paid the original sign up fee with a check from my account for my son and my brother to join this gym, and thereafter my son and brother were to pay the monthly fee for themselves. I NEVER gave this franchise any of my bank information! The monthly fee's were paid in cash AT the gym's Browsntown location, YET the gym FRAUDULENTLY obtained my checking account information from the original check used at sign up and is now deducting these monthly fee's from my checking account!

On Dec 5 2008 I spoke to "Bill" an employee at the gym, who claimed he could help me clear this up, yet when I asked him who was going to re-emburse my account the money that had been deducted, he claimed I would have to call back later and speak to "Mike" and refused to give me "Mikes" last name.

I am now in the process of reporting this franchise to my bank as making fraudulent transactions from my account. I am also in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.
