Brownwood Independent School District, established in 1883, provides educational opportunities to students from elementary level through high school. The various schools that are run by the district include East Elementary, Northwest Elementary, Woodlands Heights Elementary, Coggin Fourth Grade, Brownwood Intermediate School, Brownwood Middle School and Brownwood Senior High School. Northwest Elementary and Woodland Heights Elementary have both been named to the Texas Business Education Coalition honor roll. Apart from academics, the district also offers various sporting opportunities to the students such as football, volleyball, cross-country, tennis, basketball, soccer, track, baseball, softball, golf and power lifting.
