Provided by YP.comThis large mall does have some interesting material although they are more expensive than, for example, the small antique place in Randolph (forget name) and Fairfield Antique Mall. this is because the Brunswick location is more likely to attract affluent tourists going to the coast.
My problem with them is how the customer is treated. I've never found them friendly. one would think that with economy the way it is, they would be more so.. I undersatnd that antique stores worry about loss and have to have cc TV. But now they actually have someone at a desk when you come in to check you out. In addition, a young girl patrols the floors.
I decided to get a couple of things. I am a middle aged professiional woman. When I got to the desk with my two items, the older man actually said, "What are you trying to get away with?"
I should have left then, but decided it was his attempt at humor. he then asked if I was done shopping. Why on earth would I go to the counter if I was not?
But worse, when he gave him my debit card, he asked for my DRIVER'S LICENSE! I can't remember this ever happening to me before ever--least in all in Maine. He then proceeded to scrutinize it very carefully--all for a small purchase. It was worse than the TSA.
It's absurd to say this anything to do with the Hannaford problems, since one would not, quite obviously, have a card.
He never explained or apologized for this.
I would not go there unless you want to be treated like a common criminal. They don't seem to understand that with this economy, they should actually be courting customers--not alienating them.
