Provided by YP.comI was referred here to get a second opinion on my dog's severe allergies in 2010. Yes, I did pay a little more than I had been at my previous vet, but my dog is feeling better so it is definitely worth it... you get what you pay for. They aren't the cheapest clinic in town, but in my opinion, they are the best. I'm definitely not made of money, but they do an excellent job of working in my budget and offering me different payment options so I don't have to break the bank in order to care for my animals. On the previous comment... you cant expect them to just accept half payment... can you go to the grocery store when you don't have money and expect to pay for your groceries later? Think about it.
I have had great experiences here, the staff is all very nice and more than helpful (I recently got my very first bird and they spent about an hour with me answering all my questions). The doctors are top notch, one of them had even been on different TV programs! I couldn't believe it, my dog's vet is a local celeb. They even have free educational seminars open to the community that are taught by the staff and doctors. I am happy to have such an outstanding clinic right here in my own back yard...

Provided by YPmobilethese peopleare greedy rude and overpriced.they will run lots of unnecessary test and when you cannot pay the bill in full the keep your animal.we offer the more than half of our bill as a down payment they would not accept it in the meantime kept charging a $50 a day boarding see and would not release the animal for us to get a second opinion

Provided by YP.comI have mixed reviews of this place. In 2003, I took one of my cats in and he needed dental work. He got the work done--three weeks and several tests later. He was hurting and there was no urgency to get the work done. That being said, I understand why the tests were needed--he was 11 years old. The work itself was fine and other times we took our cats there we had no complaints. Still, a toothache is a toothache.
One huge complaint I have is that in 2009 (we had moved out of state and had just returned), we took one of our pet rats there to have her mammary tumor checked. When we came in, they rushed us into the room, acting like our tiny, little, harmless caged rat would cause a riot in the waiting room (every other time I've taken one of our girls to a vet, strangers come up, ask questions, and talk to the rats--they're always amazed at how they're not these horrible, evil, dieseased creatures they're made out to be).
And besides, if your practice treats rodents.....oh nevermind.
The female vet looked at the bedding in her travel cage and was very condescending, saying that "I don't care for that bedding" and had read articles about it being bad. I don't know what articles she was reading, because Aspen bedding is just fine for rats (and with their four story cage, they spend very little time in it to begin with). And considering that my wife and I had far more experience with rats than she obviously had, we didn't need her looking down her arrogant nose at us.
Then she explained that if they did remove the tumor, they'd need to spay her so she wouldn't get any more. This was either a lie or she was just ignorant. Once a rat reaches her sexual maturity (and ours had), then spaying won't prevent mamary tumors from reocurring (a vet at a different clinic confirmed this, as just about any rat expert on the planet would). Even I knew that was bull. This was absolutely inexcusable.
The other doctors and staff were always very nice, however.
I haven't been back and won't ever go back. Doud's in Oberlin is fantastic with rodents and other pets as well.
Just because a practice says they treat exotics, doesn't mean that they should be. I'm sure they're fine with birds, but I wouldn't let that vet near any of my rats. She was clueless, and I'm not paying for a clueless fool a dime to take care of one of my ratties.
Cats and dogs--yeah, they're fine with them. But be prepared to spend the bucks. Like I said, I have a mixed review. Most of our visits were okay. But these two instances were really a bit much.

Provided by YP.comI've been going to this vet for almost 6 years. Everyone is so nice. Dr. Wilson is the best. They've taken good care of my dogs, ferret, and kitten. The only bad thing I would say is that the prices are a little higher the some vets. But they do a good job and know what they are doing.

Provided by YP.comMy dog had been vomiting for a couple hours on a Saturday afternoon when my normal vet was closed. I called around to several clinics and the emergency fee was pretty unreasonable. I called animal and avian and the fee was much less and they were able to get me right in. The staff was very nice and the rooms were clean. The female doctor who saw me was helpful and informative. Luckily my dog was ok and made a pretty quick recovery. Unfortunately it is a bit far for me to go to for routine care, but very useful in an emergency situation. Thanks again for your help.

Provided by YP.comIf ever there was a clinic set up to gouge and take advantage of pet lovers, this is the place. It isn't the animals didn't get good care -- they did. It was that the service was over priced, and the vet pushed for extra over priced services, which of course, would involve more and more office visits for which we would be billed a high office fee each time. If you have lots of money to spend on your pets, this would be the place to go.
