Swain County West Elementary serves students in kindergarten through grade five. The school offers classes in English, math, science, social studies and language arts. Its curriculum also includes art, music, and health and physical education. Swain County West Elementary has a parent-teacher organization that sponsors several fundraising events and welfare programs. The school s media center stocks a variety of storybooks, encyclopedias, online periodicals, textbooks, picture dictionaries, atlases, and fiction and nonfiction books. It provides several Title I and after-school programs. Swain County West Elementary is governed by the Swain County School District, which also operates several elementary, middle and high schools.
