Hoven Funeral Home has been so...

Hoven Funeral Home has been so helpful in my family's time of need. With their younger staff working there, they both were there to help us out. They are so compassionate & caring people, and were willing to go above and beyond to make this time easier on us all.

I would definitely recommend Hoven's to anybody who's dealing with a loss of a loved one.

Do Not Use this funeral home

My family has used Hoven Funeral Home services for at least 20yrs. My father will be the last from my side of our family to use this funeral home. The lack of compassion towards my family has left a very hurtful and lasting impression that has not gone away even after 5months. Mr. Hoven used to be a very compassionate and understanding person but in April 2010 his attitude has changed. My family met with one of his assistants on the Monday after my father passed away and everything seemed to be moving sort of slowly which concerned me. My brother and uncle made 2 separate payments to take care of the funeral services. This only took a little over a week to come up with and payoff the bill. I called Mr. hoven to ask why my father's obit had not been placed in the 2 separate newspapers and he stated that the bill had to be paid in full before the obits could be sent out. The total bill was only $1,600 for all the direct cremation and no memorial/visitation. My brother had already paid Mr. Hoven $1,000 towards the bill before the obit was even sent to the newspapers. This was not the worst part of this arrangement. I thought that my father's remains had already been cremated but they had not even after a week. The cremation of my father's remains took over 3 weeks. (Even after the bill had been paid in full.) The lack of compassion, understanding, and caring for the my father has hurt the most. He never even stated that he was sorry for our loss. Plus, the reason why our bill was so low is because my father did not have medical or life insurance and we had to pay this out of pocket. Mr. Hoven needs to hire more people to take care of this business or retire.

do NOT use this place

this is the worst possible place you could take your loved ones!! mr hoven is VERY undependable and unprofessional and I wouldnt take my dog there after the experience my family has had with this place!! we had one issue after another with mr hoven including but not limited to, scheduling things and not following through with his promises. then to top it off he was suppose to fill the urns for my mom cause she didnt not want to see the ashes of her beloved husband, which he did fill them but was very sloppy about it and when my mom picked up the urn it had ashes all over it, (this is after she told him how much she didnt want to see ashes) she was heatbroken to see that and of course to know that he was that careless with his remains, just disgusting that he could treat another humans remains that carelessly!! Before you consider using this place just keep in mind the old saying " you get what you pay for"!!! he is cheaper than most but there is a reason for it! the service sucks and he dosent have ANY respect for the living or the deceased!! and dont expect him to keep an appointment cause he has more important things to do!

Don't Go There

In August my brother and I went to see Bob Hoven, funeral director to set up a prepay cremation plan for our Dad. After a long, winding dissertation by Mr. Hoven we agreed to go with his plan. I actually had the checkbook out ready to write a check. Mr Hoven waved me off and said wait until I mail you the contract. That was August 22nd and, even though my brother has called him inquiring about the contract in mid-September and Mr. Hoven said he would get it in the mail the following Monday, we have not received anything. If he didn't want to do business why didn't he speak up? It makes me wonder what promises he has failed to keep with people who's family member has actually died. Maybe, we're lucky he didn't followup.
