Buffalo Place, founded in 1971, is an independent nonprofit corporation founded to manage the downtown core surrounding Buffalo s pedestrian mall, including HSBC Center, Main Place Mall, Hyatt Regency Buffalo, Key Center, Ellicott Square, Rand Building, The Brisbane Building and Main-Seneca Building. The organization specializes in marketing, maintenance, planning and advocacy. The Buffalo Place Marketing Department works to promote the theater and entertainment districts in downtown Buffalo through events and commercial advertising, as well as public and media relations. Its operations department manages, regulates and maintains public space in the downtown Buffalo business improvement district for property owners, businesses and users. The company is headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y.
