Incredibly slow, unprofessional, disorganized did I forget any negative adjectives? They also tried to claim I only paid $75 for my appraisal fee until I faxed them my bank statement showing I paid the full fee. I used them through my credit union Great Erie and thought it would be easier. Boy, was I mistaken.

Absolutely do not get a mortgage through Meridia for Owners Choice Funding. My fiance has been a member with meridia for a while, and they have always been wonderful. I opened an account to re-finance my car, and again they were wonderful. Everyone is always very polite, and helpful when we go in there. So, we decided to apply for a mortgage with them. They use a provider called owners choice. It has been the most awful experience ever. They misplaced paperwork, and when I called to follow up with what was going on. They said "they must have overlooked it." and prolonged the process for a commitment letter. After this, we were given a closing date. They called us the day after we were given a closing date, and said that our credit reports expired last week so they re-ran our credit and it changed so they had to wait 3 business days. When we called Albany to ask why they didn't re-run it the previous week when it expired. They told us we were good to go on our closing date again just to contact the attorney to make sure. We contacted their closing attorney and our call wasn't returned. The following day they said we wouldn't be able to close. Save yourself days of headaches, and go with a company that knows what they are doing like M and T bank. You will always just be a number but at least you can work with people who know what they are doing. You might have a slightly higher interest rate but it would be well worth it. I would never recommend getting a mortgage at owners choice through Meridia to anyone. They are nothing like Meridia and it makes Meridia look bad.
