The USD 244 Recreation Commission is set up to address the total recreational needs of the community of Burlington, Kan., on a year-round basis. It cooperates with school, city and other community agencies and assists individuals and groups with equipment, programming, expertise and facilities necessary to satisfy specific recreational concerns. The commission organizes special events, trips, and adult interest, youth, pre-school and pool activities. It offers sessions of football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, tennis, twirling, cheerleading, swimming and group exercise. In addition, the commission conducts cycling, folk art, safe driving, aqua fitness and Spanish classes.
