The best calimari and chicken parmesan in Alamance County. Well worth it.

I have been a patron of Sal's ...

I have been a patron of Sal's for many years, but it has definitely gone downhill over time. However, my family has always enjoyed the Italian subs and have continued as customers for the subs alone. Most of the other menu items are, at best, mediocre in taste and serving size,as well as overpriced. After my experience today, good Italian subs or not, they have lost my family as customers.Through the Attractions Coupon book that I purchase every year, they allow you 25 additional coupons to use on your phone. Several businesses opted out of the phone coupon deal and therefore don't show up on the available coupon list. However, Sal's on Huffman Mill Rd. was listed, and the coupon good for 1 free menu item up to $6 in value. The way the phone coupons work is that you have 90 minutes from the time you download it, to use it in the restaurant. So, I downloaded the coupon and my teenage son and I set out for lunch at Sal's.The waitress took our drink order first and then came back with the drinks to take our order. As we finished ordering, I showed her the phone coupon as the instructions state to do, and due to her being a new waitress, she said she would have to check on how she should apply it. She put our order in and came back 5 minutes later saying she was told they never agreed to accept the phone coupons. Rather than arguing with the innocent waitress, I stepped outside and called the Attractions Company to see what was up with the coupon. The very nice customer service rep looked up the contract with Sal's and said that they had not opted out of the phone coupons on their 2013 contract, but had opted out on the 2014 contract. By the time I got back inside, our food had arrived, so as not to embarrass my son by leaving and causing a scene, we ate the food. However, when I went to the register to pay, I explained the situation and the phone call to the cashier and she left and came by with, I assume, the manager on duty. I again explained the situation, phone call to Attractions and showed her the coupon on my cell phone. She proceeded to tell me that they never approved the phone coupons so it was the customer's problem, not their problem. Really?? I disagreed and reminded her that the contract was between Sal's and Attractions, not the customer who purchased the book. I also added that if they were interested in keeping customers, they may want to take the time to contact the Attractions Company ASAP to have their business removed from the phone coupon list, especially with their name having been on the list since October 2012 when the book was first made available for sale. She (the manager) did not even apologize for the inconvenience, much less dare to offer to honor the $6 coupon. So, for $6, Sal's has lost my family's business, which, at the least, would be worth much more money to them than $6. On a positive note, the Attractions Company not only called me back to ask the outcome of the situation, but they apologized for Sal's AND made 25 additional restaurant coupons available to me on my phone. Now that's customer service!
