Provided by YP.comI hate to see that one bad experience from one client who happened to write two negative reviews under a different name bring this place down. I understand how hard it is to lose an animal, we lost our dog of 13 years last year and the staff of Vet Care of Calera was nothing but compassionate and understanding. They provided us with a casket and even wrote a note on it saying RIP. The next week they sent us a card wishing us the best with all of their signatures on it. We carry our Morkie there for all her shots and if she gets sick. They also keep our cat (Jake from state farm) just about every other weekend. He gets excited when he gets there and they all come running to see him.
We have yet to have one single negative experience here and that is saying a lot for a business. I would highly recommend them to anyone and will be back again and again.

Provided by YP.comWhen you walk in the door it is CLEAN ! There is no foul odor that is so dreadful in most vet offices.
It is obvious Dr. Hicks loves her work. Her staff is
well trained and go out of their way to take care with their patients.
Pet Care of Calera is a thirty mile ride from my home and absolutely worth the drive time.
My family and I have total confidence in their
knowledge and services for all of our beloved
four legged companions.

Provided by YP.comI am very selective when it comes to my dog. I used to drive 1.5 hours round trip to a vet. Now no need - just a few minutes to a vet I trust and respect. This is a mission for Dr. Hicks, not a profession.

Provided by YP.comUse at your own risk. Completely unprofessional. Left my dog under their care and he passed away. Dr. Keri Hicks didn't even feel the need to come in when her tech informed her that his health was starting to deteriorate. She leisurely showed up when they opened for normal exams. No compassion. Went there to pick up our dog and no one even knew who he was. Had to clarify that he was the one who passed away. Completely unorganized and unprofessional. Be informed and use them at your own risk.

Provided by YPmobileSadly, our dog passed away while under the care of this place. He went in for some dog bites that Dr. Hicks informed us were nothing to be worried about, but she was going to keep him overnight to raise his temp so she can clean the wounds better the next day under anesthesia. We never got to say goodbye to our dog before we left that night, and was told when we first got there to just "put him on the floor". Didn't seem very compassionate, but I felt I could trust the care of a professional. The next morning I got the call that my dog did not make it, and that Dr. Hicks leisurely came in at 8 am (the office opens at 7) and my dog had passed away under the care of vet techs earlier that morning. First of all, why wouldn't they call me when they knew his condition was "deteriorating" as she put it? We would have at least gotten to say goodbye. And the care he received overnight was some more pain meds at 6 pm before they left for the night (I had already informed Dr. Hicks that he was given some pain meds that say only give in 12 hour increments, which she didn't even seem like it was important enough to chart what I had given...possible overdose? Also, when we went in to pick him up, no one at the front desk knew who he was, and asked "well did he have an appt?" And when we told her he had passed, we got a cold reply of, "oh, well I wasn't here yesterday." So many what-ifs, but all we can do now is inform others so that they can be aware of this and hopefully not go through the same heartbreak.

Provided by YP.comThe veterinary clinic is the BEST I've ever taken my pets to. Dr. Hicks is so sweet and gentle with the animals. I have a shih tzu puppy and a 7 year old cat, and she and the entire staff were great with them. They even have coloring sheets in the lobby for pet owners who bring their children along on the appointment. Great prices and right now they are offering free wellness exams for first time patients. You definitely won't be disappointed with their friendly staff and excellent service.
