California High School, governed by the California R-1 School District, serves students in grades 9 through 12. The school s curriculum includes math, science, English, reading, physical education, computer science, social studies and language arts. It also conducts classes in music, family and consumer science, and industrial and technical education. California High School coordinates the English as a Second Language program. The school provides guidance counseling services in matters related to educational plans, career opportunities and personal problems. It offers a variety of sports activities, including golf, football, softball, volleyball and basketball. The school operates a student council and chess club, as well as offers membership opportunities in the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America. California High School operates a parent-teacher organization that participates in fundraisers and other academic enrichment activities.
