Fantastic great shelter and neutering place. Warm friendly people!

We reached out to Kent Animal Shelter because we heard some great things about this particular shelter....well, here is my story about Rudy...we rescued this 13 year old Schnauzer on a very cold January night.....the dog was clearly disoriented and huddled against a stop sign in West Babylon, the dog had no collar and was physically in bad shape, his fur was severely matted, he was undernourished, he had a bad limp, so we scoured the neighborhood for the owner with no luck. We went to a local vet to see if he was chipped (he was not) we posted photos through certain sources who help out in these situations.....we decided to reach out to Kent Animal Shelter and we contacted the Manager (Linda MacDonald) who initially was very supportive and helpful toward the dog's situation and hopefully his "future", after a couple of conversations she actually agreed to take the dog for herself, we immediately thought this was wonderful and a godsend.....we were so excited, we took many photos of Rudy and emailed them to Linda, we went out to the stores and bought him a nice orthopedic bed, a large bag of Merrick food, Cans of Organix, a nice sweater, treats and all the things this dog deserves. We even brought Rudy to our vet for an exam, bloodwork and have his stool checked - they all came back negative. So, when we heard that Linda wanted to take him in, we thought this was a blessing. All along she told us that she would only take in the dogs that nobody wants, the misfits has she said. After the blizzard hit we received a text message from Linda stating basically that she couldn't take Rudy due to the storm. Never got a call, or even an email - just a TEXT message saying she cant take him and that she could offer to find him a home...we never replied to the text and she never called to even check on him - not very professional for a manager of KentAnimal Shelter. Very disappointed!
