Albanus Phillips Inn

Located at 314 Mill Street in historic Cambridge, Maryland, this private manor turned Bed & Breakfast was originally built and owned by the world renowned businessman Colonel Albanus Phillips Jr. of the famous Phillips Packing Company. Completed in 1903 and added on to for the next several years, this ten bedroom house was built as a Queen Anne Victorian integrating Italian Renaissance and Edwardian features and is lavishly adorned with colonnades and massive wood accents. Italian marble enhances the beauty of the interior and exterior, including three types of marble on the front porch alone. Marble slabs, 8 thick and 18 deep, were used on the windows, both on the sills and the lintels, even on the lower level windows. The exterior brick of the house was imported from Venice, Italy.
The home has been visited by many famous guests including the President Teddy Roosevelt in 1908 and his nephew, President Franklin D. Roosevelt on his trip to Cambridge in 1935 to dedicate the new bridge between Dorchester and Talbot County. Today, the home serves as a Bed & Breakfast in this historic West End of Cambridge in the "Heart of the Chesapeake," Dorchester County.
