The reason this hotel gets two stars instead of one is that the room was spacious and adequately furnished. The reason it doesn't get more than two stars is because of the flawed amenities. To begin with the key card would not open the outside doors so you had to enter through the lobby no matter how inconvenient that might be to your room. When I went to use the computer prominently displayed in the lobby I was told it had no modem. I asked why they had it out if it was of little use but the reason was pretty obvious to me. A potential guest would see it and unless they asked if it worked would think they had that support. Not until checking in and maybe moving into the room would they learn that there would be no checking e-mails, printing out boarding passes, etc. I then tried to make a long distance call but found I couldn't get an outside line. The desk clerk had no idea what the problem might be but offered to let me use a phone in the lobby. I chose not to discuss my business within ear shot of the clerk and anyone else in the lobby. I wonder now if the phone was just there for show like the computer; the owner could give the impression that the amenity was available but without the cost and hope the customer would use their cell phone and never find out. The next flaw was that the clock could not be set to the right time so no alarm. Finally in the breakfast room the next morning I found out that the microwave did not work. Without the ability to heat the refrigerated omelet or Instant Oatmeal, the minimal breakfast became even more minimal.
