Founded in 1942, Fairmount Fire Department is located in Syracuse, N.Y., is a voluntary organization offering firefighting services. It is a member of Onondaga County's Western Section Line Officers Association. The fire department has firefighting cars, trucks and vans of leading brands, such as Dodge, Chevrolet and Ford, and the vehicles are used for medical emergencies, vehicle lockouts, residential lockouts, outdoor fires and auto accidents. Its fire fighting vehicles are equipped with water tanks, pumps, gallon tank, alarms, gas and liquid spills, hydraulic line reels, spreaders and speedway cutters, portable wheeled cart with generator, lights and cords and firecom headsets. Its vehicles also have water cans, shovels, brooms, suction machines and utility box for outdoor fires. The department has an auxiliary that was organized in 1944, and it has more than 42 members to provide assistance to the men of the fire department by offering food and drinks on the fire scene. It also assists in organizing fundraising events, such as pancake breakfasts, parades and field days.
