KATSU SANDO RESTAURANT AT WESTFIELD TOPANGA Katsu Sando in Japanese means "cutlet sandwich". Katsu is derived from the word Katsuretsu ("cutlet"), while Sando is the short form of the word Sandowichi ("sandwich"). At Katsu Sando, their vision is to serve the ultimate katsu sandwich while staying honest with traditional techniques. Their chef, Daniel Son, became obsessed with katsu sandos while he was training at Nihonryori Ryugin in Tokyo, Japan. After long days in the kitchen, he would frequent the local convenient store where Katsu Sandos were his go-to after work snack. Upon returning to the states, he had difficulty finding good quality katsu sandwiches and thus began the quest to create his very own.
